Unfortunately, they’re using the term ‘reboot’, which means ‘this is what we would have been doing with the series all along and now can’, not ‘here’s an alternate universe’
You know, I was skeptical about DmC at first but after seeing this trailer, my opinion changed. Yeah, I can see why people don’t really want a reboot and would much rather prefer a stand-alone title for this game, but a stand-alone calls for DRASTIC changes. Names, concepts, world, etc. A reboot, they can retain key features from the original series while still keeping the idea fresh. Guys if you haven’t noticed this is an alternate universe, New Dante is a Half Demon Half Angel while the Original Dante is Half Demon Half Human
I’m starting to like this more and more. it’s looking like they’re going to be telling the story of HOW Vergil lost his faith in humanity and became power hungry, and HOW Dante became the wise cracking demon hunter that everyone knows him to be. If theres some part of the game where Dante’s true Devil Trigger is realized, and Vergil becomes the antagonist of the game, I’ll be satisfied.

To all haters – it may be not Devil May Cry we love and appreciate, but guys, Ninja Theory are experts in making epic plot and they are not just saying, that their game storylines are way better than many movies and books. I was skeptic as well, but they are doing well. Keep playin’ old DMC games though, if you don’t like the reboot.

If you can’t accept this game, or even give it a chance JUST because of changes to the characters…then clearly you are not a true fan of the series and can’t trust the people making this game. Have some faith. They’ve made a good franchise. They wouldn’t do anything to risk ruining it. They’re not stupid.

Some people need to realize that this Dante is the teen angst years that everyone goes through. I believe at some point through the game, the character will show big hints to the Dante from the previously made games. Don’t get angry about the character switch, just see that it’s a different part of Dante’s life. Ninja Theory is showing Dante at the stage in his life where the things he does and the things he says were sloppy. I mean, he is a teenager in this one. In order of Story line:5,3,1,2,4

I don’t give a crap what you people say, this looks awesome just like all the other Devil May Cry games. Ninja Theory and Capcom look like they’ve done a great job on this game and I can’t wait to play it. Hopefully we see more footage of it at the TGS in a couple of days. If it doesn’t get released for the Wii U, I’m buying it for my 360 day 1.

This might be good after all we notice a lot of critics… Vergil looks terrible compared to dmc 3… A twist may do better
